In the round-up: Fernando Alonso is bracing himself for another power unit change penalty before the year is over.
In letter
Alonso says he may need to take a sixth Renault power unit to reach the end of the 2022 Formula 1 season.
The Alpine driver has already had two grid penalties this season for exceeding his allowance of three power units for the 2022 season – serving them at his home grand prix in Spain, then in Austria. After retiring from the Singapore Grand Prix with a power unit problem, Alonso admits he may be required to take a further penalty before the end of the season.
“We are maybe not completely safe until the end of the year,” said Alonso. “So, it is possible that we may have to introduce a power unit. I don’t think that there’s going to be this weekend but soon.”

Sometimes, just sometimes I wish I would’ve chosen a different sport. All the money that I have spend in motorsport could have gone to people who struggled to buy food. Maybe it will all work out in the end, and I’ll be making money out of motorsport. One way to find out.
